New Engine Swaps – Patch 1.61

Posted on 2025-07-30

Patch 1.61 dropped on Thursday. Along with some new cars – one that’s my favorite of all time – we get five new engine swaps. Some of these are pretty good, so let’s get into it.

If you prefer moving images, here’s the video.

The Swaps…

Our first swap is for the Mitsubishi Evo Group 4 race car. It comes in the form of the VR38 from the Nismo GTR. This engine can make over 1,000 horsepower, and with all-wheel drive, the Evo should be able to put it down no problem.

Renault Clio V6, EJ20 swapped

Next car to get a swap is the Renault Cleo V6. It swaps the naturally aspirated V6 for the Subaru Rally car’s turbocharged flat 4. Being 100 lbs lighter than the original engine, this car should be even more of a menace in the twisties.

Subaru WRX STi Isle of Man, twin turbo LS7 swapped

Our third swappable car is another race car, the Isisle of Man STI. It gets the ridiculous twin-turbocharged LS7 from the BRZ drift car. This will almost double the power of the already potent race car with the capability of going beyond 1,200 horsepower.

Toyota 86 2016 Limited, 2JZ-GTE swapped

Our fourth car, the 2016 Toyota 86, gains a second swap in this update in the form of the Mighty 2JZ. This will be the 12th car to gain this engine swap, so I don’t need to prolong this with what this is capable of.

Toyota Celica GT-FOUR ST205, 3UZ-FE swapped

Our last new engine swap, and my favorite of the bunch, goes into the Celica GT4. You will get access to swap the 3UZ from the SC430 GT500 race car. This will get good power and amazing fuel economy in a chassis with all-wheel drive. I pre-ested this already at Tokyo and it’s a beast!
